Spent today running some errands and not getting great owl shots ... I can hear them right now outside my window in the rain ... taunting me.
Soon come.
At Mom and Dad's house last weekend, a host of critters were hanging out around the waterfolly pond.
The wrens are raising a brood in the corner of the hurricane shutters that protect the big picture window which looks out over the pond.
On my own porch, the wrens are raising a brood in a Yuengling box full of tools to go back to the barn.
They won't be going anywhere for a while.
This frog was hanging out on the pond's rim, still as a rock, as a black racer slipped by in the surrounding shrimp plants. ( Racer not pictured here ... you see, they race and I ...).
The pond is also supporting tadpoles already.
If you build it and all that ...

Wow, the critters don't take long to find water! And nice baby bird shots.
I heard a barred owl this morning. Maybe we are as blessed as you, to have young ones nearby!
I love to get the frogs to my pond. I agree with Deb, nice bird shots also.
That's a leopard frog. We get them at our little pond. See how the gold stripe goes THROUGH its eye?
Lightnin and I can attest to the speed of a black racer! We had one come up and greet us last time we visited the property.
Beautiful! Water gardens are just the best things.
Deb,
Barred owls have an amazing geo range don't they? Hope you get chicks!
Lisa,
Thanks! You can't have too many ponds!
SNB,
I thought so, but I always hesitate with pickeral/grass/leopard frog id and I was too lazy to look it up.
Thunder,
Black flash in the grass!
3C,
Truly a wildlife focus point! Your frog was more impressive tho!!!
Well he, or she (I'm not sure), stopped to raise it's head ans say hello before taking off in a flash! ;-)
Wow. I am amazed at how quickly the animals showed up. That frog is very cute.
