I knew when I turned into the crowded parking lot, that this was going to be one of THOSE Black Friday shopping adventures.
I followed the signs to the bargains.
I got a great deal on a beach snowman.
This earlier shopper had already snagged the plush toys I wanted.
Oh well, early bird gets the Lab and all that ...
Herds of shoppers were everywhere, but most were well behaved with none of that "sales stampede" mentality that you hear so much about.
People seemed to have the spirit of the season, with lots of waving and smiles.
It just wasn't that bad an experience ... I don't see what all the Black Friday angst is about.

My kind of black Friday! I don't get the shopping thing. Heck, I'd pay extra to avoid the crowds! haha
Where is the lovely fort in your title photo?
I seem to have lost my ummmm... wallet and errrr.... keys and ahhh... cell phone here. Will have to go back and check for them. And again. And again.... Oh yeah and again...

Now that's a shopping experience I can live with! Those beach photos make me think it's been too long since I've been to either coast.

Lisa,
Sounds good!
A few years ago the NPS asked us (the Fl National Guard) to help move the cannons in this fort and the Castillo downtown from the forts to flat bed trucks. We did using UH-60 helicopters to sling load the cannons. Once the cannons were restored, the NPS asked us to put them back. We did it the same way only in reverse order. I was on the ground crew setting the cannons in place. The largest cannons weighed almost 8000 lbs. pushing the limits of the UH-60's external load capabilities. It was a pretty neat experience.
I have a great story about the cannon on the east side of Fort Matanzas but it would take too long to write it here.
Glad ya'll had a good Thanksgiving and great Black Friday.
Horseback riding on the beach. One of my favorite things to do!
Mmmm. A shot of Mellancamp. Thanks.
