Sunday Suds

This is what passes for fall color down here ... mostly. It gets better, but not until winter.
... and then it's technically winter color, right?

Ground cherry, (Physalis sp.)
There were vast amounts of these in the fallow hog pen this summer. Yesterday, while trying to reclaim my garden from a conquering horde of grasses, I came across this last survivor. These always make me think of my baby Katie. When she was about 4 we were walking in the woods here, and I pointed out a ground cherry. In a flash, she popped it in her mouth and announced, "Mato, ... GOOD."

She was so used to walking through the garden and popping tomatoes ("Mato") into her mouth that she assumed that's what this was.

Good thing it wasn't deadly nightshade... a cousin.

Another Parenting 101 lesson.

Bear getting a much needed bath. Actually, he's pretty good about baths. He's smelling pretty sweet right now ... tres, tres huggable. Junior did this bath while I gave smelly ol' Flounder a bath on the front porch.

I did get outside after my garden battles yesterday and found a few things to share with you this week , plus it's barely 9:00am and who knows what's out there for me today.

Whatever it is, you can find it here ... but you already know that.

I wasn't sure if I would be reading about an Oktoberfest type beer celebration or a dog bath. :o)

We're doing puppa bathing today too. Amazing what they find to roll around in. :)

And all this time I thought Bear was a self cleaning dog. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Hey, I see JR's team won their game against McClay. Go Eagles! 8-]

Looking forward to seeing what you found out in the daylight. These short days are taking some getting used to.

Amazing how our babies survive and thrive despite our slow-wittedness. Not that you are/were slow-witted. I'm just saying.

Like everyone else who checks in here, I am looking forward to seeing what you will show us later.

Oh, and are you expecting weather soon?

That looks a lot like the tomatillos from which I made salsa this year.

Giving dogs baths...now that's a concept we have not tried here!

That's why I keep coming back (though I miss the dreadful punning that seems to be AWOL lately).

Dogs and baths. I have three I need to get cleaned up before Libby gets home on Tuesday. Send Junior up here, quick!

Steady 30mph winds from the East up there in South Georgia?

The beet challenge rocked, btw! New challenge issued!

Hey are those ground cherries pretty sweet? Those look like what they were calling passion fruit in China!
