I am guessing Bear wasn't with you. He would have wanted to join in on the fun. Of course when you add a third it completely changes the group dynamics.
Yeah, I was gonna ask whether you know what's going on here? Male chasing a female? Or territorial male chasing another male that's invaded his territory? Or just two playful dillos? I don't think I've ever seen two together before. They don't seem to be social animals. So I am inclined to believe one of the first two options.
OMG! At first I thought it was the video of you, Thunder, myself and the armidillo! Made me laugh again just thinking about it! Happy New Year's to you and your family! (Please tell the Mrs. we said hello)
A few years ago, we spotted what we thought were some small beach balls down by the grape arbor. Grumbling about grandchildren who leave things out, husband and I walked down to retrieve the balls. Imagine our delight to find four baby dillos (always 4, always identical)tumbling around and chasing each other like puppies. They were fearless, and climbed up on our feet and explored the hems of our pants. We were charmed, and stayed with them a good ten minutes, when suddenly there was a rustling and a squeek in the hedge that borders the woods. The babies scattered and dashed under the hedge. I'm guessing an alarmed mama dillo shooed her babies back to the den. We never saw them again, but that brief encounter was magical. I wish we had had a video camera.
Prem et al, So as not to repeat myself too much regarding the "mating or what?" question ... I don't honestly know. It could have been either courtship or territorial dispute. What you don't see on the video is that they tumbled like that for a few more minutes and then one scooted across the dirt road while the other began foraging in the dirt. May have just been a turf war ... or prenup warmup.
That's my answer to everyone who wondered just what was up...
Lisa, Daily. These two were not on my property though.
Emory, Troll, Nfmgirl,Cindy, Bear was home at the time, too many gators where these dillos were romping.
Miz S, Bouncing does that... makes you feel better I mean.
Sayre's Mom, Welcome to Pure Florida! I could picture that experience so well by what you wrote. Must have been so cool!
Jean, Exactly the thought that crossed my mind when I first saw them.
Lightnin, THAT was pretty funny. Happy New Years to y'all too!
Sayre, Dunkin dillos?
Dani, They can't help it. They look silly just standing still. Bouncing around only makes it worse!

Time to make the dillos!
Emory stole the gist of my comment. Dogs LOVE to dance with dillos. At least all mine have.

Reminds me of two kids playing tag. You're it, no you're it, no you're it.
You know, I felt okay to begin with but I feel EVEN BETTER now. And I will add my voice to the chorus: are they playing or courting or what?

I thought Bear was going to take off after them and make them jump! :)
So, cool! How often do you get to see them?
