Tis The Season

Mom's backyard about two weeks ago.

It is the season of writing and tweaking final exams, getting those last student assignments graded, and a whole host of other end of the school year things.
As a result, I've barely had a chance to comment, much less write anything sensible here at PF.

THIS PARTICULAR end season is especially grueling for me, as it is the end of a 22 year chapter at this school.
Yes, I have chosen to shake things up and take on a more challenging (in some ways) teaching mission ... somewhere else.

I'm not moving from PFHQ, just switching to another school in our huge county.
(Huge physically, not populationally)

There's more details on that to come, but for now, just imagine the kind of stuff that builds up in a science teacher's cabinets, drawers, and closets over two decades of teaching.

So, I am a little stressed out, with a wee bit of time left and a megapassle of things to do left on my list.

... and that's not counting the things I have forgotten to put on the list.

Packing up a classroom is hella hard. Good luck with that.

My friend/neighbor just moved schools after years in one school. I helped her move. It is amazing what one can collect in those cabinets, drawers and shelves. Good luck with your move.

Hi FC,

Wow. That is big news! Good luck with the move and the new venture. Can't wait to hear about your new school. Try not to stress too much.

Congratulations and good luck with the move. I've seen how stressful but good that can be.

I feel bad for the students you're leaving but good for the new students.

Congrats,
I pray everything comes out the way you planned it, things seldom do, hence the prayers. Enjoy.

Best wishes in your new teaching adventure! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who has hardly had time to breathe lately.

Pretty awesome to think that you've been there that long!
Good luck in the new position, but I know where you're going and I'm sure it's going to be a fun adventure!

You really are shaking it up there, fc! Good luck with it. I have always thought a move every now and then is a very good thing. Brings out new aspects of yourself and can offer ways to grow in lots of new directions. I am looking forward to your future posts from your new life.

P.S. Yes, that lizard snarled! Gnashed its teeth and opened its mouth. If it could have reached around and bitten Roger it would have done so! Quite a cute little thing.

I hope the move is everything you hope it will be. I sure don't envy you your move.

Today was our last day, we were also packing classrooms. Asbestos abatement then new flooring over the summer, plus 2 teachers leaving. One to write novels, one to start law school.
You have my sympathy, looking forward to hearing about your new school, too.
Hang in there.

Congrats on your move. Hope you get things packed up and remember to breathe.
Love your blog, but will be here. Love it and addicted to it.

Hope the move turns out well, once the chaos ends. It's hectic enough just to wrap up an ordinary school year . . . I'll be interested to hear a comparison of the two schools if you ever care to blog about it.

Thanks Y'all!
Yes, I plan to share more details later this summer as I move in to my new digs and make it mine.

Right now, I am just packing my stuff up for a post schoolyear move.

Hello there, pretty pictures on your site. I can't believe you saw those big gators. I'm a new follower and fellow FL lover.

Good luck with the new gig. Vis-a-Vis the previous post, my guess is that she was protecting young-uns.

I had a mama gator chase my kayak for 300 yards in a similar encounter.

They're almost mammalian in that regard.
