Future Nanners

A closeup of the flowers. You can see the descending pod just behind these banana flowers.

If you're stuck inside up north today, I hope this bit of semitropical color brightened your day.

Sixty degrees and blue skies here after 2 days of a stalled, grey, rainy front that dropped 3 inches of blessed rain. That was the first measureable rain at my place in two months. Posted by Picasa

It does help, we have 29F and snow flurries up here this morning. We're supposed to see some actual accumulation tomorrow.

We're a balmy 30F. The sun hasn't come up yet, but from what I can see there are dark clouds on the horizon. We've been promised some flurries, but haven't seen them yet. The photos of nanners in bloom definitely warms my heart. Thanks much.

I am so glad I live where I live! We're in the sixties and sunny at the moment. Today did mark the official start of the "Snow Hope Index" on one of the TV stations up in Tidewater (VA). The weatherman has a snowflake that he wears if there is a chance we might get snow.

Oh, love the banana photos!!

Thanks, I needed that. It's very cold here in northern Illinois, and bananas growing outside our thatched roof casita in Belize - just a memory.

Kansas,
Brrr. We call that a hard freeze.

Deb,
If it's gonna be less than 20 degrees, I want to see blue skies.

RD,
Glad to warm.

DPR,
We have our fingers crossed.

Swamp,
That's the difference between the southerners and the northerners, we want snow and they are thinking, oh no...

Zanne,
That's somewhere I have always wanted to go.

After a cold winter storm hit on the day after Thanksgiving (I think that was your rain a couple of days later), we are now having a very warm diluge of rain. It's only about 48-50 degrees outside and all the snow in the Higher Sierras is gone...much to the chagrin of the skiers. No worries...another storm (colder) is on the way.

You should be getting our very wet storm in a couple of days.

Love the flowers.
