Stop Running In The House! You'll Make My Cake Fall!

Did'ja ever hear that command when you were little?

I remember it distinctly ...and you can bet that I stopped running immediately.

Do cakes still fall? I don't think I have ever said that or heard Mrs. FC say that, yet there has been plenty of in-house running and a few cakes made around here.
No one was running when I managed to make this lopsided blueberry cake the other day. This time, I just tossed blueberries into it, none of that saucy swirly stuff.
Very uninspired, but it disappeared pretty fast.
Tonight, Dave is making his secret chicken wings. He won't tell me the recipe, but after I taste them I will post about them.
They've been marinating for 3 days in the fridge in some green goo.
I think they are going to be hot.
Yes, I'm sure of it.

3 days of marinade? Boy, that sounds spicy. Just in time for football season, too. :)
I'm trying to ignore the pic of the blueberry cake. It looks delicious!

I always leave here thinking there is something lacking in my 'domestic' abilities....did you push me out of line when they were handing these skills out before we were born?????? ;)

No bakers in my family, but we still couldn't run in the house. When I was little we lived in an apartment building, so we couldn't run because we were told we would bother the neighbors. Nice cake.

Let's see, don't run
jump,
yell,
rough-house,
rassle with
your brother,etc...

I don't know if it had anything to do with cake, but I heard them all. Come to think of it, it sounds like me now... :)

My mother was a horrible baker. She didn't believe in following directions and the results showed it. If only a falling cake had been the worst of her problems. She could actually bake cookies that we kids wouldn't eat. They tasted sort of like very crispy biscuits.

Three days to marinate anything? Chefs say that after 20 to 30 minutes in a marinade, the flavor is as much in the meat as it's ever going to be. This chicken deal should be interesting.

Love the sign. Must have just finished paying dorm fees and tuition.

That's very interesting. I, too, have heard the no-running plea, and/but I never saw/heard a cake fall. I wonder if it's an old wife tale (this was before husbands cooked).

Laura,
It was supposed to be only two days, but we had a change in plans. Emma says that simple blueberry cake is her new favorite.

Danielle B,
Was that you? Did you get my ability to talk sports?

Robin,
Nothing like the pitter patter of little feet on the ceiling.

Mo,
If you had to go, being cobblered to death might be the way.

Ava,
I think it slumped at least.

Wren,
A wee bit late on that request!

Sharon,
I did get in trouble for allowing the kids to ride their bikes between the kitchen, living, and dining room.

POP,
Yeah, it did seem like a long time, but if someone else wants to cook, who am I to wonder at the plan?
I can now vouch that they were wonderful.

Cathy S,
Meal ticket $1600, Books $400, Laptop $1000; tuition and dorm covered by scholarship and prepaid college ... books probably will wind up being reimbursed too.
Oh, times two of course Kate and Emma.
I will never again own a motorcycle apparently.

Hoss,
It just might be. Now that we cook too, it doesn't work anymore.

Oh, there is still hope. My husband has found a way to own several. And when our son graduates next May,he has promised himself another one. Yet, I still own only one horse, because as he so accurately stated, I can only ride one at a time. Go figure. :0)

We didn't get told not to run in the house. We got told "go play outside for a while." It resulted in serious warpage on my part- I usually ended up playing with bugs.

That is for sure one fine looking cake, I think the imperfect ones taste better, don't you?

I'm relatively wimpy when it comes to spicy hot, but the guys'll put it away. The only thing that ever KO'ed Duller was Chinese mustard. I ain't EVEN trying that stuff.

That cake is art! And it looks like just the thing at this point in the summer. As far as the wings go,I think you're right- green goo suggests heat, lots of heat.

I've been watching storms develop- so far nothing too exciting for Florida. It looks like Texas is getting it now. There's a part of me that would like the excitement of a storm- maybe when I come down in two weeks we could have one that's not overly destructive- just some wind and lightening and thunder and stuff. Speaking if thunder- did Dave find land?

Thank you again for the seeds. :-)
