Friday Fried Florida Seafood Festival Fest ... wow
Clam farmer commute.
Don't forget the Cedar Key Seafood Festival is this weekend. If you go, be sure to buy some smoked mullet from the Cedar Key School marine science students' booth. That's their big fundraiser for the year.
It's a two day festival, but Saturday is the best day. That's when I'm going.
Looks like the festival may dodge the weather bullet again this year. The worst of the southern storm is supposed to come through here this afternoon ... just in time for our school's homecoming parade and game.
We had our own little seafood fest last weekend, with a little chicken tossed in for our landlubber son.
From left to right:
Seasoned, but not breaded "nekkid" fried chicken.
Fried farm raised catfish.
Wild Mayport shrimp.
Hushpuppies.
It was the first trial run of our recent batch of homemade datil pepper relish.
It passed.
Have a spectacular weekend.

Within this past week we've had fried catfish and fried shrimp (the boxed kind from Sam's Club). I'm craving hushpuppies now after seeing this; care to share your recipe?
Wish I could be there. I'm sure my cousins will be - and they're all great cooks.
Their ancestors (Abigail Rutherford and children) sailed from Pensacola to Cedar Key abt 1870 and have thrived in the area. Please say Hi to all the cousins for me (Delaino, Yearty, Walrath, Bertine, Levine, et al)!
Holy cow that looks good!!
OH MAN!! I wanna come visit!! That stuff looks on and beyond good!
Ohhhh!
Slowly I crawl toward the sack of corn meal and the jug of peanut oil!

My recipe is a box of Zatarain's Hushpuppy mix :)

We'll toss in a few extra shrimp for ya'.
Mockingbird,
You can't go wrong with that blend.
I think I found a new screen saver
yummy!!! my mouth is watering......
Looks good, she says as her arteries begin to harden just by looking.
Dang, I was scrolling down to ask for the recipe too, as Becky has been feeding us hush puppies lately and sometimes the recipe she is using could stand a little tweaking....your dinner sure looks great.
You don't see hush puppy mix in the store up here I fear.
I gotta admit I am a big fan of shrimp, though the rest looks delicious too!
