Ghosts and Monsters

BOO.

It's Halloween and already I've spotted a ghost ...

... and a monster.

The monster is in both pics if you look carefully.

In the second pic, you might say the monster is only a ghost of his former self.

Happy Halloween.

Drive carefully tonight and watch out for costumed kids craving candy.

Great minds think alike. The invertebrate world is full of halloween, every day!

I have a feeling, from past experience, that driving down our dark 800-foot driveway scares away a lot of trick-or-treaters. But I'll watch out elsewhere.

Great pictures! We haven't been trick or treating in many, MANY years. Our church started having Harvest Festival back in the late 70's, as an alternative when razors started appearing in apples. I was mad back then...I wanted to trick-or-treat. Now I'm happy to have it! :)

that second picture is scary as hell. Even the bark looks scary.

Okay, I'm home safe now and I'm not going out again. Soon the little ones will start appearing at the door and I'll win their favor with treats so that when they are teenagers, they won't TP our house.

3C,
Thank ... no pressure there!
:)

Wayne,
Those pics at Niches were amazing.
We never get any TOT's either out here in the woods.

Sharon,
I understand that reasoning, but I loved taking my little ones through a neighborhood trick or treating.

RCW,
I was about to portage the canoe over this log when the ghostly dragonfly caught my eye. It must have just emerged. By the time I finished shooting about a dozen shots, it flew off. The nymph exoskeleton left behind seemed huge to me.

Pablo,
A man with a plan.

I'm back after a rather unpleasant pause, but I finally was able to get my thoughts down on a post. It's probably going to be awhile unitil we're back to "normal".

I'm only going to try to catch up on these past couple for now:

Nice photos on this one, those dude's are definitely creepy looking.

We don't have to like it and shouldn't have to take it, but face the facts: Lawyers and Insurance companies rule the world!

No kids kilt in our area. Some should have been spanked, though.

Hey, FC, the Florida Folk Festival's next weekend (9-11)! Think you can show up one of the days? A distant cousin/family friend of yours is a headlining musician. I'll be set up with Mr. P. making castnets all weekend. Hope to see ya there!

Lori,
Beast then beauty.

Dave,
I need to call you.

HTeen,
Let me see what I can do.

Any idea what dragonfly we're looking at?

R.Powers said...

Cathy,
I don't. I confess to spending zero effort in IDing most insects.
I do appreciate them, but I almost never reach for a bug field guide.
