Star Wars

Well, it looks peaceful enough ... this fencerow of blazing star (Liatris).

Purple flower spikes swaying in a fall breeze beckon us closer.

Now we can see alien pirates plundering nectar from innocent young flowers.
What?
No, I'm not sure of this pirates rank, but I bet he's the skipper of the pirate vessel.
(wacka, wacka)

This pirate seems to be flying an X-wing fighter.
Of course, no Star Wars saga would be complete without ...

... the Death Star.

That's a cool Long Tailed Skipper! I had one around my porterweed last week, but wasn't able to get a good pic of him.

Love that Golden Silk spider (I think that's what he/she is, although I don't see the black fuzzy spots on the legs they usually have). Maybe it's a close cousin to the Golden Silk.

URG!!! Not again with the flying evil! Am supporting the Death Star. Han Solo and Skywalker will just have to morph into something other than.. uh is that a butterfly or a moth?;)
Nice pics.

Great shots of the skipper and spider. You have a very active imagination, fc.

Ahh! I had no idea that my 7th grade English class pet was actually an alien!! All along we thought it was just a golden orb spider!
It's aweful scary how these aliens have infiltrated our minds and convinced us that they are harmless arachnids.
It's all a part of the HAARP conspiracy to brainwash us!!!
(Sorry, feeling especially sarcastic today :-D)

PS: Blogger Word Verification: "eyepee"
Subliminal message? Completely immature, but completely hilarious.

Does this mean we have to be afraid to visit the back yard now?
Wonderful photos!

Love that x-wing skipper! The death stars are taking over around here. And one has established 2 factories where more are being produced.

I'm not up on my alienology, but I'm pretty sure this is an SW character, as well.

You're blessed to live out in the "sticks" where a bush hog doesn't come by every other week and plow the wildflowers down.
Hilarious post!

Nice pic by the way.

SCMomma,
Quack.

Dani,
Thanks for the ID!

Suze,
Different, but must be close.

Lej,
Spiders have a similar effect on me.

Breezey,
A skipper ... which is kind of a combo (unscientifically) speaking.

Robin,
It runs constantly.

HT,
Eyepee?
That works in so many ways.

3C,
Just use the force when you go back there.

Sophie,
Don't you love the symmetry of that aspect?

Anon,
Green eyes?
Sorry about that.

Island Timer,
Yes, we try and avoid neatness around here!

I wish I had one fraction of your photography skills. Sigh. Alas, my hands shake too much.

Kathy A,
I blame it on my parents.

Just Right,
Was the Muppet Show not height of TV artistry? I loved that show.
I need to netflix it.

Miz S,
I love it when you talk the crazy Latin talk.
Yes, I think it is.

Nativemom,
Sony has steadycam technology in their cameras and I use a monopod most of the time.
Thank you for the kind words!

Sayre,
Thanks!
Sophie found Bobo?

Glo,
LOL! Careful or I'll be posting about you and the bathroom spider at school!
"Use spray" heehee.

My vote is with Argiope as well. They favor my tomato plants and scare the liver out of you when you reach in to pick a ripe tomato and they go racing about. Death Star, indeed, they about give you a heart attack! I like herps, but you can keep your arachnids.

Caroline,
Herps here too. Give me a snake any day over a spider.

Hiking in Central FL over the weekend provided me with LOTS of those Long-tailed Skippers.

That X-wing fighter shot is great! I'll have a post up later this week about them.
