Don't Play Koi With Me

The koi are doing well in the Garden Folly, which still amazes me with the number of wild things that cross our yard each night from the surrounding woods.
My sandy driveway is a mosaic of critter prints every morning when Bear and I do our Dawn Patrol.
Seems like somebody might have fished the pond in the dark, but so far the fish are fine.
Sorry for this late, short post ... this is the last week of the school year and it's CRAZY IN HERE PEOPLE, ...CRAZY I TELL YOU!
Ahem ... so anyways, I've been a little busy today covering other people's #$%^ in the absurd world of No Child Left Behind, when what we really need is a No Crappy Parent Left Unsterilized program ... but I digress.
Happy Tuesday!
Tomorrow I'll be posting my latest entry in another culinary smackdown.

NCPLU (I know how much you educators love your acronyms), sounds like a program worth investing my tax dollars into. Sign me up!

FC, I want to know why you aren't in charge of government programs! I like that last one there.
And you sound stressed.....hope when this week is over you can decompress out in some wild, watery place somewhere.

You've got our vote...first program that's made any sense.

I agree with everyone else, I also am thinking of getting Koi to put in my upper pond.

Mighty big words from a man whose state is named for a flower . . .

My son sees the very same thing in the school where he teaches. By the time the kids reach him, it's pretty much too late to do anything beneficial with them.

Maybe you should set up your game camera to shoot your drive at night. Might get some surprises.

I completely agree! I have never been happier to see our 12 year old fifth graders go to middle school~and take their 13 year old friends with them!

Good post. You should really chit-chat w/ our youngest,a HS teacher here in Tampa.Yikes! It'd knock your socks off.And he teaches AP English!

one more thing---there is no lifeguard in the gene pool.

Last day of school for my larvae tomorrow...I can only imagine how it is for you teachers. Anyway, looking forward to the culinary post, as always!

;0) Good one. Can I nominate a few for the program?

I agree on both the craziness (who scheduled a field trip the last week of school?!?) and the crappy parents (who tells their first grader they are a bad reader?!?!)

Kimberlee said...

I'm happy to hear about the survival of your fish. I hope your sanity is as fortunate by the time the school year ends. Our craziness was completed (as if it's EVER really over) a couple of weeks ago. I was going to do a post about it, but I couldn't find the words.

Somebody a few comments up used the word "decompress." How appropriate! That is exactly what teachers need. I think "de-congress" would make some sense as well. The people who make the laws ought to have to eat the fruit of all that wisdom.

Ooh, I'd vote for NCPLU in a heartbeat! :)

I read some of that out loud to Roger this morning. We were cheering, in case you didn't hear us. NCPLU, absolutely great idea.

Marge,
We have not earned the PC seal of approval here at PFHQ.

NativeMom,
The only people who like acronymns more than education bureaucrats are military bureaucrats.

3C,
Don't you worry, when I'm in power there will be a No Cow Left Behind program for you dairy farmers.

Carol,
And it shall be retroactive ... now where is my time machine?

Lisa,
Do! They are fish with personality.

Pablo,
I'm probably overcompensating ...
Good idea on the battery sucking game cam ... I have thought about smoothin the driveway sand at dusk and then seeing what develops.

Library Girl,
LOL! How true, how true!

Chris and Jon,
I'm sure we could match tales and share our misery! Too funny about the life guard!

Hey Deb,
Our last day is tomorrow and it should be a doozy! I should post!

Cathy S,
Get in line lady! We've all got a bunch to nominate! LOL!

Lynn,
OMG! Way to build their confidence!

Kimberly,
Good points! Decompression is desired.

Rurality,
You're an engineer, get busy on that time machine so we can make it really effective.

Robin,
Was that y'all? I did hear something to the west of us.
Thanks!!

You're singing my song again, FC. Teaching would be a lot easier if some of these parents stepped up to the plate.

9 school days for me.

R.Powers said...

Miz S,
One hour to go for me.

The problem with NCPLU is that it's too late to help. But I suppose it's kinder than locking them in a closet until the kids are grown.
