Last week, on our adventure nawth, we found water to play in.
Although it was strangely cold and not salty at all, we still had a good time.
Here's a few scenes taken with a 10 dollar disposable waterproof camera.

Me and my baby girls.
Prewater.
Starting out.
Emma in her element.
Salmon mimics.
The water won.
Serious gold panning by Junior.
Try the Ocoee Skin Removal System.
Shudder ...
Left to Right: Katie the Dry, Emma the Fish, Junior the ... well, it's a long list, Conner the Katie Sweetie.
Me, fishwatching. This is how I did the quieter stretches of the river. With my shady floppy hat and a Seal mask on, I could watch the river bottom go by while fish seeking.
Unfortunately, we shot all our pics before we got to a truly bodacious rope swing out over the river so you have to imagine Emma, Junior, and I getting some serious air time before dropping back to the river.
We went whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River too, so stay tuned for a pic of us going over the falls.

I'll bet that water was cold. When we were kids, my mother worked at a textile mill in Rome that drew and treated its own water directly from the Oostanaula River (not a mountain stream). On its way into the plant they pumped it through a truly gigantic swimming pool. Boy, was that water cold when you first went in! And it never had a chance to warm because it was continuously pumped through.
what a gorgeous family!!!
Have a grand time.
AAAAhhhhhhh!!! Nice!
You guys definitely know how to have fun.
WooHoo! Looks like a great place to go play and cool off!
You folks do know how to have fun! That pink tube floating thingy looks wonderful.
Aha, so you guys aren't/weren't too far from the Tail of the Dragon!
Welcome to my neck of the woods! There has been lots of rain so all the rivers have good flow and fun, fun, fun!
Love the hot pink tubes on the cool green river!
Where is that more specifically than "Up North"? And when's the Throwdown Going Down?
looks like some serious fun, wish i could be there! miss all you guys.
Am going to run the Ocoee (in a raft) and the Nantahala (in my canoe) in a couple of weeks with the daughter.
Woodie
Mark,
This was pretty chilly, but not as chilly as the Nantahala which was damfed bottom of the lake water. 47 degrees.
Aunty,
Thanks! They clean up nice!
Robin,
Well, somebody has to do it.
Dani,
Waaaay cool and way kid friendly ... even little kids, these guys used to tube this river when they were little and cute too.
3C,
These pink tubes even have bottoms in them so, if you choose, you can stay semi warm as you tube.
Thunder,
No, it wasn't that far and there were some similar roads around the area too! 60 to Dahlonega is pretty sweet.
CrackerNation,
You got that right! Lots of fun.
Caroline,
We try for fengshooie whatever we dooie.
that was really bad wasn't it.
Troll,
Blue Ridge, GA.
I know, I'm tardy on the throwdown ... vascilatin"
Corinny,
Missed you too!
Woodie,
Have fun!
Boy, does that look like fun, to bad we didn't have the warm waters around here for that!!
These would be good photos for your upcoming, chartcracking manual on How to Live Life Fully While Having Tons o' Fun: A Guide for the Aimless and Uncomitted.
Lisa,
Warm? You mean this water was warm?
Julie,
LOL! I like it! It has a nicer ring than my original idea, "Get Off Your Butt and Play With Your Kids, A Guide To Noncouchpotatoness."
SNB,
How'd I miss your comment? Yes, it was very Ahhhhhh.
:)
Looks like some serious fun! Although I would be cautious about sitting in white water wearing a bikini. ;)
I used to go up to Nantahala every summer to stay for a week with my great aunt and her family. Those cold streams are physical memories for me! I think I mentioned it in one of my posts - the rocks in my garden one, I believe. I really miss it up there.
Deb,
LOL! Erosion?
Sayre,
These kids are building those same type of memories. :)
I'm late, I know, but I gotta add my 2 cents - looks like you guys had a blast. Also, all 3 of your kids are gorgeous (and Connor ain't half bad) but that Emma has a smile that makes me want to reach through the computer and squeeze her. What a cutie. And you - such a good dad. Nothing better than making memories on the water.
Was supposed to do that river too! But missed the summer mountain trip. You are in the same town as Judy!
