There's Jr. showing his BLUE RIBBON pig. Tomorrow is the livestock auction so he'll be richer tomorrow than he is today. He just doesn't know how much richer yet.
The collage is just a mishmash of random fair scenes. I think identical scenes could be found across the country in a zillion little livestock fairs that take place each year.
I'll leave you with the classic Suwannee fair scene. This giant holly tree at the front of the fair grounds is a kid magnet. I like the way she cradles these kids.

nice outfit jr. very classy. couldn't hurt with the judges. congratulations.
congrats to junior! like roger, i'm impressed with the tie.
roger and Kathy,
No one may show their animal unless they are wearing the official dress of either the FFA or the 4H organizations. It's a sea of blue (FFA) and green (4H) jackets.
Some pig. :)
Boy too.
Jr looks great. Nice pig and beautiful tree too. Looks like life is good there, and you have a week off to boot!
Congratulations to Jr on a job well done.
I like your observation about the tree possibly playing host to preceeding generations.
Such wholesome pictures of a fine young man and one fine pig. I lived in town and never experienced the challenge of raising livestock. I've often wondered if parting with an animal after the months of care is bit tough for a youngster.
I love your take on the tree. Very nice.
Can your boy tie his own tie? Mine can't though I've spent plenty of time teaching them. Now they have these zipper ties. Abomination!

Rurality,
Thanks! They both clean up nice.
Robin,
Thanks. Tomorrow at the fair, I need to take a close up of the bark of this tree. Incredible amount of history there.
Hal,
I'm sure it has ... especially since grandparent status comes really early to some folks around here.
Cathy,
I don't know about the youngster, but it's sure tough on me :(
Pablo,
I can't tie a tie.
When I was little, I wore clipons.
In ROTC I wore clipons.
In law enforcement, you had to wear a clipon so the badguys did not use your tie like a garotte.
Now I don't wear them except about twice a year and my wife ties it for me then.
It's a 17th century anachronism.
Fairs are the best. They teacj kids so much and are fun at the same time. Congrats to Junior
I love the picture of the goat.
ditto hurricane teen...a face only Ms. Noble could love! ;)
that tree has been there as long as I can remember...and I'm nearly as old as the dirt it's planted in!
What everyone else already said... re 'some pig... and boy!'
Great collage! I recognize that building. I comment on it just aout every time we drive past it. Not often enough, more's the pity.
BTW, I keep meaning to ask.. is that locomotive (I think that's what it was) still at the crossroads there at Otter Creek?
ThreeCollie,
I thought you and yours would appreciate this.
HTeen,
Like something off the X-files.
Mel,
She WOULD love it. The goats looked healthier this year. Last year the seemed so skinny. There's a new crop of kids in that tree every year!
Sophie,
It stands empty much of the year, but it sure is full of life now.
That locomotive is a little south of Otter Creek at just before the blinking light at Gulf Hammock on the west side of the road. If you go past the Circle K, you missed it.
Congrats to Jr. on the blue ribbon. I was in the non-livestock part of 4H when I was growing up, but the County Fair was always exciting.
Thanks Deb! The big sale is in a few hours!
A flock of children landed in the tree. :)
I absolutely adore pigs that means I ~do NOT~ eat them! I also adore your sunshine state..I spent a month there
and just returned home. While there I posted my impressions as a nature lover..come by and see a visitors eye view of Ft.Myers.
POP,
Love your interpretation!
Lucky for them there were no 12 year old boy birds with bb guns nearby. Revenge is sweet.
Naturegirl,
I still prey on them, but I adore them too. Yesterday was the goodbye day and the pig pen is sadly silent.
I will drop by for your impressions of FL.
Jr And the pig both clean up real good!!
Well....How much did he get?
Rick,
They have that in common!
Cinbad,
Okay math teacher, if a guy has a 235 pound pig and earns $4.00 a pound at sale time, how much did he earn?
HMMM...$940? Did I get it right? Do I get a cookie?
